BHS SENIOR RECEIVES HONORS

Gregg Young Chevrolet honored math teacher Annette Ott for going above
and beyond as a teacher. Ott received the Gregg Young “Extra Mile for Education”
award on Wednesday, March 5. Ott was nominated for all of the extra things she
does for her students, such as Math Counts, ACT prep classes for seniors in the fall,
and helping students before and after school.
“I was honored to be nominated,” Ott said. “I’m glad that Gregg Young is
promoting education and teaching in a positive manner.”
A camera crew from WOWT, Channel 6, filmed Ott in the classroom,
introducing herself and what she taught, and being awarded the check. Ott’s
segment will be shown Sunday, March 9, at 8:00 a.m. and Monday, March 10, at 6:00
p.m. on WOWT.

BHS Senior Receives Special Honor

Senior Amanda Lambrecht was recently awarded with a special title, the Nebraska FFA Vice President. To receive this title, Lambrecht and 41 other FFA members in Nebraska had to go through a series of interviews. After that it was cut down to 17 people. Friday at the end of the state FFA convention in Lincoln, the seven that made it found out. There is one president, five vice presidents, and one secretary.

“We all knew she would get it,” fellow FFA member, senior Emily Bledsoe, said. “We made her posters because we knew she would get it. Her hard work is finally paying off.”

As Nebraska FFA Vice President, Lambrecht will travel to different schools in Nebraska to talk to different FFA chapters and promote agriculture.
