  • BHS Journalism students - National Convention letter:
Tom Anderson of Blair High School has sent a letter requesting permission for the BHS Journalism Students and Mr. Bair to attend the national convention in Boston, MA on November 14th-17th, 2013.  No district funds have been requested for this trip.

If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought at the June 10th, 2013 Board of Education meeting to grant permission for the BHS
Journalism Students and Mr. Bair to attend the national convention in Boston, MA on November 14th-17th, 2013.  

  • Joseph's Coat Thrift Store:

A letter was received from the Joseph's Coat Thrift Store thanking Blair Community Schools for a donation of $783.75.  This donation was from the Otte Middle School, Do Something Now club.

This is the portion of the meeting when members of the public may speak to the board about 
matters of public concern.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO WISH TO SPEAK
Getting started: When you have been recognized, please stand and state your name. 
Time Limit: You may speak only one time and must limit your comments to 5 minutes or less.  
Personnel or Student Topic: If you are planning to speak about a personnel or student matter 
involving an individual, please understand that our policies require you to follow the district’s 
complaint procedure before addressing the board.  Board members will generally not respond 
to any questions or comments you make about individual staff members or students.  Please 
remember that slanderous comments will not be tolerated. 
General Rules: This is a public meeting for the conduct of business.  Comments from within the 
audience while others are speaking will not be tolerated.  Offensive language, personal attacks, 
and hostile conduct will not be tolerated.
No action by the Board: The Board will not act on any matter unless it is on the published agenda.

       If the board is in agreement a motion may be brought at the June 10, 2013 Board of Education meeting to authorize administration to
       advertise for the sale of the Blair Community Schools surplus items.

       If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought at the June 10, 2013 Board of Education meeting to approve the resolution
       authorizing the issuance of limited tax building improvement bonds, series 2013, in an amount not to exceed $540,000 and related      
       matters.

       Possible motion to be brought at the June 10, 2013 Board of Education meeting to determine classified and administrative staff salaries for the 2013-14 school year. 

        
       If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought to the June 10, 2013 Board of Education meeting to approve the supplemental salaries
       for the 2013- 14 school year.

F.    Acceptance of Gifts
  • Cargill Letter:
         A letter was received from Cargill regarding their company program called CarePoints.  CarePoints is a program that allows Cargill employees
       to donate their time volunteering for community projects.  For each hour the employee volunteers, Cargill pays out to the charity the employee
         chooses.  Amy Meyer of Cargill has donated $300 to Blair Community Schools.

         If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought at the June 10th, 2013 Board of Education meeting to accept the $300.00 donation
         from Amy Meyer of Cargill.

G.    Approval of New Teachers
  • Tarin Jennings, Language Arts - Otte Middle School

If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought at the June 10th, 2013 Board of Education meeting to approve the hiring of
Tarin Jennings for the 2013-14 school year.
               

H.   Acceptance of Resignations
  • Jenna Hoesing, Kindergarten - Deerfield Primary School
  • Amber Novotny, 4th Grade - Arbor Park Intermediate School

                           If the Board is in agreement, a motion may be brought at the June 10th Board of Education meeting to accept the two teacher resignations,

                                   as listed above, effective immediately.
