Blair Community Schools currently has several students in our district who have a severe allery to peanuts and/or tree nuts that could result in a life-threatening situation. Any contact with even a small trace of the allergen (eating, touching, smelling) could be life threatening to these children.
Because of the seriousness of this allergy, we are asking for your cooperation. Whenever possible please do not send or bring snacks containing peanuts, tree nuts, peanut butter, or traces of peanuts in lunches or party snacks. Blair Community Schools has NOT banned peanut products, but we are asking people to make an alternate choice when possible. We want our buildings to be a safe place for all children.
In addition, the school nurses have trained staff in each building to implement the Asthma/Anaphylaxis Protocol in the event of a life threating allergic reation (anaphylaxis) or breathing problem.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please feel free to contact the school nurse or school principal any time should you have any questions or concerns.
