Blair Community School Foundation
Established in 1988 to support and enrich the educational programs of Blair Community Schools
Blair's Foundation was established in 1988 to support and enrich the educational program of School District #1.Blair Community Schools finds it increasingly difficult to provide more than the basic educational program using only traditional resources. The community's expectations for its schools continue to increase while the limits on tax funds become more restrictive. The Foundation offers a way for individuals, groups and businesses to help support their schools through tax-deductible contributions. These funds received from private sources will not be used to replace taxes; they will serve as a supplement. The Blair Community Schools Foundation is legally incorporated and non-profit, established in accordance with State and Federal laws. The Foundation is not a governmental body and does not receive any tax funds. A ten member Board of Directors, representing the community and school district, governs the operation of the Foundation. Board members receive no financial compensation for their services.
THE PURPOSE OF THE BLAIR COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION is to improve the quality of education provided for students attending the Blair Community Schools through financial support in the areas of curriculum, faculty development and physical plant improvement. Foundation funds may also be used for specific purposes designated by the donor, or they can be applied to the greatest educational needs as determined by the Board of Directors. Blair Community Schools has acquired a reputation for educational excellence. If School District #1 is to continue providing the best education possible for their students, the schools must look beyond the tax resources for support. Everyone in the Blair community can benefit from the work of the Foundation because good schools strengthen the community.
