Blizzard of Books Read-A-Thon a HUGE Success!
On Friday, January 11th, K-2 students and their parents gathered in the gym at North School to participate in a PFE Family Reading Night. Participants feasted on hot dogs and chips, pickles, lemonade, hot chocolate AND ice cream sundaes! After their tummies were filled the children and adults read books and listened to three guest readers. Michael Born, a meteorologist from WOWT, read to the children at 5:45. The zoo sent a guest reader as well as a display of animal furs from the arctic.
The final reader for the evening was Dr. Steve Shanahan, Superintendent. The students were excited to learn that HE is the man that calls off school when there is a blizzard!Students could collect pledges from family and friends for reading minutes. Over $1200 was raised to purchase new library books for the K-2 schools! A big thanks to Tatum Hartvigson and all the PFE members who helped with the event!
Watch for details of our next event scheduled for Feb. 7th! The Pancake Man will make an appearance and the topic for the night will be Internet Safety!
