Alumni Basketball Tournament
Dear Alumni,
The Alumni Boys Basketball Tournament Committee is busy planning for the the annual Alumni Basketball Tournament. The tournament will be held the weekend before Thanksgiving. The opening games will be played on Friday evening and continue throughout the day on Saturday.
The money raised last year was used in part to make possible a $750 scholarship to be presented to Blair High School graduating senior basketball player. Money over and above the scholarship helped fund Blair Basketball Club youth activities.
We hope we can count on you to make this year's tournament just as successful. We urge you to form a team from within your own class if possible. If that is impossible, pull from some of the classes with which you are closest. If that is still impossible, find any available alumni who want to play. The more teams and players, the more fun. Remember the tournament is open to all alumni, not just those who played basketball in high school. The player's name must appear in a yearbook at least one year during grades 9-12. You may play for one team only.
The games will be played at Blair High School. The cost per player is $30. This will get you a minimum of two games and a souvenir T-shirt. We are again dividing this year's tournament into two divisions. Teams have a choice between an "Open" division (full court) for the more competitive and a "Recreation" division (cross court) for the more recreationally minded. More mature alumni and those alumni that participated in activities other than basketball are invited to get involved. We want the emphasis to be on having fun and getting back together with friends.
We would like to have your roster and fees submitted by first week in November. Please send one check per team payable to the Blair Basketball Club. We will hold the check until the tournament date. This will allow us time to hire officials, order t-shirts, get scorekeepers, and organize support help. We will mail out tournament pairings by second weekend in November.
We are sending this letter to only a few people per class. If you are not able to play, please pass this letter on to someone else in your class. If you have any questions, or we can help in any way, please contact us.
Also, this year the Alumni Girls Volleyball Tournament will be held on the same weekend. We are planning a combined evening of socializing following championship games on Saturday evening. It promises to be a great time!!!!!!!!! Watch for more details.
Remember, this is a benefit tournament. All proceeds will be used to again grant a scholarship to a graduating senior in the name of Blair High Alumni Boys Basketball players and to help the Blair Basketball Club assist the youth programs.
