School Transportation Drivers Receive Training

On Friday February 15, 2008 Blair Community Schools in conjunction with Bellevue Public School hosted an eight-hour training seminar in Bellevue Nebraska.  Richard (Dick) Fischer was the featured speaker for the event.  Mr. Fischer President of Trans-Consultant is known worldwide for his school bus training programs.  He began his career as a driver in California.  At the age of 23 he became the youngest transportation Director in Las Angeles California.  He has been recognized as Man of the year in Chicago for his school bus training, He has been recognized by The National School Pupil Transportation as man of the year for his school bus training and was inducted into the Hall of fame in 2007.  He was recognized by President Richard Nixon as the person most responsible National School Bus Safety Week.  More than 100 drivers attended the training from Blair Community Schools and Bellevue Public Schools.  Also in attendance were Transportation Directors from Omaha Public Schools, Lincoln Public Schools, School Bus Safety Office Fred Carritt Washington County Sheriff Office and Dave Westerholt Blair Community Schools SRO.  Training included the school bus S endorsement, proper loading and unloading procedures, proper bus riding rules, SAFE Emergency Exit and the danger zones around a school bus.  Each person in attendance left the training with a renewed sense of School bus safety and the awesome responsibility bestowed on each driver.
