High Ability Learner
What are the goals of the High Ability Learner Program within the Blair Community Schools?
- Identify and provide services to students who demonstrate potential abilities of high performance in intellectual and/or academic areas
- Provide services for identified students that incorporate curriculum adaptations, teaching methods, activities, and/or instructional materials designed to meet the needs of high-ability learners
- Provide guidance and counseling services to meet the needs of high-ability learners
- Communicate the various aspects of the program for high-ability students to staff, students, and the community
- Evaluate goals, activities, materials, procedures, and recognize student accomplishments
What are the objectives of the high ability learner program within the Blair Community Schools?
- To develop awareness about the nature and needs of high-ability learners
- To provide an organizational structure that will facilitate curriculum experiences for high-ability learners
- To provide adequate human and material resources to meet the program goals
- To coordinate the curricular and extra-curricular experiences that high- ability learners pursue within the general education program
- To allow flexibility in the learning environments so that students can pursue individual interests and advanced areas of study
- To provide opportunities for professional development in the areas of involvement and student progress
- To conduct periodic evaluations for faculty to engage in long-range program planning and to exchange information and ideas relating to all aspects of the program.
